Each year the AAS journal editors and supporting staff members meet to discuss the status of the journals, lessons learned throughout the year managing the peer review and journals production processes, and to strategize for the future. This year was no exception.

Given the need to avoid physical gatherings because of the coronavirus pandemic, the team met virtually on Thursday and Friday, 2-3 April, capturing this grid view of almost everybody (with one editor’s dog standing in for him at the meeting).

This two-day meeting is vitally important for the Society and its journals: helping us ensure a consistent, high-quality peer review process, while allowing time for in-depth discussions of a wide variety of other issues, such as handling dual-anonymous peer review, ensuring actionable, professional peer review reports are delivered to authors in a timely manner, and dealing with author-referee interactions diplomatically.
